Paper Mario Cake IRL

Can a cake cosplay?  Well, this one tried!  I decided to bake a cake.    I was inspired by the lovely fan art cake you see in the corner.    namiparmesani was awesome enough to make this picture:

So I decided I wanted the cake in real life.  The white layers are angel food cake.  The middle layer is chocolate cake mix that I dumped an entire bag of chocolate chips into.  There is some strawberry filling in between the layers too.  I was a little sad that I couldn't find fresh strawberries, so the frozen ones will have to do.    Overall it took over four hours to make.  I haven't tried it yet... I'm cutting into it tonight, so I hope it taste alright!

Edit: So I tried the cake.  ._.  Mario would not save me if I made him eat this cake.
I have never been a good cook, and at least the cake looks like the picture... it taste just awful...  I should have listened better to Twink's instructions.  At least I learned from it.  I may try and make it again when my SSB WiiU Peach dress is done.
